The natural, historical and architectural beauty of Val Nerina has always fascinated the likes of Benigni, who chose this very area to film scenes for the Oscar winning “Life is beautiful”, which everyone has seen, and Pinocchio. And it is precisely among these archaic landscapes that we find the ancient municipality of Arrone, where the historical palace we are showing you today is located.

Originally, the building was not a dwelling as we understand it today: in fact, it was part of the defensive walls of the castle of Arrone in the context of feudal wars thousands of years ago. It took on the vocation of a noble residence only in the 1400s to pass in 1800 into the hands of the Montefranco family and finally the Montani family, who gave the building the layout we see today.

The palace overlooks the Nera river valley, is built of stone and brick and is arranged on a main body and two scenic floors: here we have the ground floor and the first floor, composed of various rooms imbued with an ancient noble atmosphere. In fact, we have the dwelling, the kitchen, storerooms, pantries, stables, cellars, a small garden, various terraces, a turret, and an arched passage connecting the main building with the one on the opposite side where part of the property extends.

There are chimneys in several rooms, painted walls, ceilings decorated with paintings or coffered ceilings, arches and even turrets. Combined with the belvedere that can only be glimpsed in a limited way when looking at the photos, these are all features that increase the charm and sense of wonder that one feels when staying here.
